Scope and accountability
This policy describes how LayerMint handles personal information when you visit the website, contact us, join the email list or place an order.
LayerMint is responsible for personal information under its control. Privacy questions, access requests or concerns may be directed to the LayerMint Privacy Lead at hello@layermint.ca.
Information we may collect
- Contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number and shipping or billing address.
- Order information, such as products, selected colours, order history, delivery status, returns and customer-service communications.
- Payment and transaction information provided through the payment processor. LayerMint does not intend to store complete payment-card numbers.
- Email preferences and consent records when you subscribe to or unsubscribe from marketing messages.
- Technical information supplied by the website or hosting service, such as browser type, device information, IP address, security logs and cookie or session data.
- Information you choose to provide in messages, reviews, surveys or other communications.
How we use information
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To process payments, produce and deliver orders, send order updates and provide customer service.
- To prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents.
- To meet accounting, tax, legal and regulatory obligations.
- To send marketing messages when you have provided the consent required by law, and to record or honour an unsubscribe request.
- For another purpose explained at the time of collection or otherwise permitted or required by law.
Consent and choices
LayerMint seeks meaningful consent appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the information. You may withdraw consent to an optional use, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may prevent LayerMint from providing a requested optional service.
Marketing emails will include an unsubscribe method. You may also ask to stop marketing messages by emailing hello@layermint.ca. Transactional messages about an order or service may still be sent when necessary.
Service providers and disclosures
LayerMint may give service providers only the information reasonably needed for services such as website hosting, payment processing, shipping, email delivery, fraud prevention, analytics, accounting or legal support. These providers may process information for LayerMint under their own legal and contractual obligations.
Information may also be disclosed with your consent, to complete a transaction you requested, to protect LayerMint or others, in connection with a lawful business transfer, or when permitted or required by law. LayerMint does not sell personal information for money.
Some providers may store or process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws and lawful access rules of that jurisdiction.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website and its service providers may use cookies or similar technologies needed for security, sessions and core site functions. If optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, this policy and any required consent choices will be updated before those technologies are used.
Browser settings may allow you to block or remove cookies, although essential site functions may not work correctly without them.
Retention, safeguards and accuracy
LayerMint keeps personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the identified purposes and for legal, tax, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution requirements. Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted, destroyed or anonymized where appropriate.
LayerMint uses safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure, so customers should also protect their devices and account or payment credentials.
LayerMint takes reasonable steps to keep information accurate and up to date for the purposes for which it is used.
Access, correction and complaints
You may ask to access or correct personal information held by LayerMint, subject to limited exceptions under applicable law. We may need to verify identity before completing a request.
Contact hello@layermint.ca with a privacy request or concern. LayerMint will investigate and respond within a reasonable period. You may also have the right to contact the appropriate federal or provincial privacy regulator.
Children and policy changes
The website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. LayerMint does not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.
This policy may be revised when the store, providers or legal requirements change. The updated version and date will be posted on this page. Material changes will be highlighted when appropriate.
